Cost for all services is $80 a session; this can be negotiated if there is financial hardship. Disability allowance is available for those on a benefit. Together we can explore ways to overcome the barriers to counselling.
In our first meeting together we can explore ways to overcome the barriers to counselling so that you can achieve the healing you hope for and able to lead a fulfilled happy life. There are many barriers to counselling apart from the cost, for example, fear of the unknown, too busy, transport issues, care giving of children/elderly, feeling vulnerable, worried you might be overwhelmed by past trauma, lack of partner/family support, unsure of what others might say, embarrassed that you need help and see it as a sign of weakness, social phobia and being seen by others. I appreciate the effort and how hard it can be to go to counselling. Walking through the door into the counselling room is often the hardest part. But you do it and feel better for overcoming the anxiety and fear.
Our first meeting will be acknowledging and celebrating the path to counselling. Together we can explore ways to overcome the barriers to counselling. In counselling it is important to feel safe and respected and the journey is at a pace you feel you are able to negotiate. It does not mean it will always be easy but then you will be developing character and improved sense of self. Hopefully this will be an enriching experience.
